When you have completed your pitch is there a call to action?
I often get comments such as “I don’t want to sound to “salesy, I don’t want people to think I am pushing them into a corner”.
Remember Your Perfect Pitch is not about making the sale right there and then, it is about moving into meaningful conversations with your prospects….. this is where the magic happens….
I can not tell you how many time I have heard a great pitch and it just ENDS!!! The person presenting does not tell me what to do! I am left with questions such as “how do I get in touch with you”; “how do I work with you?”; What is the best way to connect with you?”.
They leave feeling like they have done a great pitch, I am left feeling like I want more but I don’t know how to get it!
The Call to Action is often perceived as a SALE. Perhaps in the “old days” yes, but in this day and age people want to do business with people they know like and trust.
Although an opinion of a person can be formed pretty quickly (they say 5 – seconds) the truth is, if people DO like you, how do they get to know you to know if they trust you enough to either do business with you or refer you to others?
So let’s get straight to the nuts and bolts of how to create an effective Call to Action!
The days of handing out a business card are few and far between! Online has made sure of that!
The question you need to ask is HOW can people reach out to you? AND What’s your preferred choice? Whatts App, Text Message, a phone call, an email, Connecting with you on LinkedIn, Virtual coffees, a Calendly link…… There are so many options just in this space alone!
- If you are on an online platform you can either share your LinkedIn details in the chat box OR invite them to send you THEIR LinkedIn details by private chat. That makes it easy, one click and they are connected
- If you would like to reach out to them via email invite them to send you their email address. This ensues you get high quality leads of interested prospects
- If you prefer to phone and SPEAK to your prospects invite them to share their contact details with you so you can reach out to them after the meeting.
You need to ASK people to reach out to you and make it easy for them to do so!
A heap of networking events and no contacts is not the place you want to be! Think about your call to action and include this in Your Perfect Pitch!
